David L. Miller, Jr. age 87 died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. David was born on August 16, 1931 in Laddy, Ohio the son of David L. and Elizabeth (Talbert) Miller, Sr. He was a 1949 graduate of Conneaut High School and went on to serve as a PFC in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 until he was honorable discharged in 1953. David worked as a semi-truck driver, drove school bus for the Conneaut Area School System, was a postal worker and later retired from Sidley’s as a cement truck driver for over 25 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Conneaut, American Legion Cowle Post 151 and former V.F.W. He was a volunteer fireman for Station 4 for many years. David enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, Nascar racing, especially #12 Ryan Blaney. He especially loved the time he spent socializing with his friends and family and was a caregiver to his wife, Marilyn. David was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Dennis Marvin Miller in 1953. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Glick) Miller, whom he married in 1950, daughter Jennifer (Ray) Palagyi of Conneaut, sons Daniel (Denise) Miller of North Kingsville, Ronald (Kelly) Miller of Dallas, GA, Thomas (Debbi) Miller of Geneva, brother Philip (Barb) Miller of Vinton, VA, seven grandchildren Chad, Michelle, Stephen, Stephanie, Stacey, Kirt, Angela, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Robert Guldenschuh of the First Baptist Church of Conneaut officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Route 20, North Kingsville, Ohio where the American Legion Honor Squad will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Cowle Post 151 or D-Day Ohio Inc, 283 Buffalo St, Conneaut, Ohio 44030. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
