David J. Herring, 76, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare. David was born in Wayne County on July 24, 1942 to the late Ben and Ava Moore Herring. For many years, he worked as a truck driver with Laughlin Trucking Company. David has served as the Fire Chief for the Pinewood Volunteer Fire Department. The family will remember David on Saturday, April 27, 2019 during a time of visitation with family and friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home. David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Amanda Pike Herring; daughters, Carla Hazelwander and husband Duane and Renae Herring; step-son, Clifton R. Kirkland, Jr. and wife Jep; sister, Anne H. Hopkins and husband F.L.; and four grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Herring Wilder, Britany Hazelwander, Zoie Herring and Alexxis Castrati and husband Anthony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
