Obituary for Damonte Avery Chance DeShannon Damonte Avery Chance DeShannon, age 8, of Killeen went home to be with his Lord and Savior during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at a Temple hospital. He was born on the 26th day of September 2010 to his parents Robert DeShannon II and Kimberly Douglas in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Damonte attended school at Saegert Elementary in Killeen. He was loved by all of his friends and teachers as he would bring joy into the hearts of all that knew him. Although he had many friends, you knew you were one of his best friends if you shared a secret handshake with him that only the two of you knew. Damonte loved going to school; he loved to learn and draw as well. He had dreams of becoming a fireman when he got older. He had the heart of a protector and proved it one day when during a fire drill at school he helped a classmate with autism out of the building. He loved to sing and dance and never left the house without looking his best. He was very particular about the clothes he wore and how well-groomed his hair was. Although his life was a short 8 years, Damonte will leave a legacy of love that will live in the memories of all that knew him for years to come. He truly was the “Lucky 8.” Damonte has been a resident of the Killeen area for the past 2 years. Damonte leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents Kimberly Douglas and Robert DeShannon II as well as his 3 brothers Amos Raeford, Kymoni Raeford and Omarion Wright. He also leaves many teachers, friends and classmates. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the EPIC Church in Killeen at 2 p.m. The family does request that no flowers be sent to the service. In lieu of flowers they would like you to bring teddy bears and firetrucks to placed around Damonte. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple is entrusted with the arrangements.
