Charles “Chuck” Moore Parsons Jr., 82, of Parkersburg passed away April 22, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 14, 1936 in Parkersburg and was the son of the late Charles Sr. and Geraldine Tingler Parsons. Chuck served in the Navy and worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers as a lock and dam operator. He later went on to retire from the Belleville Lock and Dam. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking in his workshop, mowing yards, playing cards and dominoes, dressing up for Halloween in his elaborate, homemade costumes and most importantly helping others. His family was everything to him and he was everything to his family. Chuck loved to make people smile and be happy. Surviving Chuck is his loving wife of 58 years Shirley Parsons, daughter Christina Lough (Tim) of Williamstown, son Shannon Parsons (Danielle) of Mebane, NC, daughter Kelly Carr (Bob) of Parkersburg, six grandchildren Brittany Brombacher (Ryan), Caitlin Lough (Aleka), Tyler Lawrentz, Caden Parsons, Brycen Parsons and Gage Parsons, two great-grandchildren Austin Brombacher and Makaio Carr, two brothers Elmer Parsons and Richard Parsons and several loved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Alloway, Shirley Kelley and Helen Nutter and three brothers, Eugene, Ed and Bernard Parsons. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for taking our loved one into their professional and compassionate care. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Bob Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday.
