Charles Thomas Shackelton Jr November 21 1944 April 11 2019

“It’s another beautiful day in paradise!!” A favorite declaration of Charles Thomas Shackelton Jr. (Chuck). Indeed, it was a beautiful day when Chuck, age 74, peacefully returned to his Heavenly home on April 11, 2019. Chuck was born November 21, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles Thomas Sr, and Irene Pentek Shackleton. Known in his youth as Tommy, he grew up surrounded by family and many wonderful cousins. He joined the army in 1964, where he was known as Chuck, and served his country loyally for the following 3 years. After his discharge from the military he spent the next 40 +years living in Ohio. He spent most of his professional career in sales, until he discovered his true passion for home remodeling and handyman services. He loved helping people and completing beautiful projects. In 1997, Chuck married his sweetheart, Vicky Ann Sutch, in the Washington D.C. Temple for time and all eternity. They blended their families of five adult children and 3 teenagers and began a beautiful life together. They lived in North Olmsted, Ohio for 8 years, and Akron, Ohio for 5 years. Chuck loved his Ohio “paradise,” but hated the cold! They moved to their next “paradise,” Florida in 2010. In each area they lived, Chuck was well known and loved, constantly seeing the good in others, always being concerned and aware of everyone around him. He extended a hand with a “how are you” and an infectious smile to everyone. He filled his days in service to others including; giving rides, lending an ear, coordinating service, and offering advice. His greatest gift was the ability to love a person as they were. It was these attributes of selfless love and optimism that made every location they lived a paradise. Chuck’s greatest legacy is his unwavering faith in God, and an undaunted testimony of his Savior’s love for himself and others. He encouraged everyone he knew to “come unto Christ” and strengthen their love and faith in God. Sometimes he used words. He leaves behind a blessed family including his wife Vicky, and children, Stacy Farrenholz (Joe), Tanya Ginger (Russ), Doug Shackelton (Julie), Larissa Ruffell (Doug), Barbara Haney (Shaun), Chris Shackelton (Brandi), and stepson, Hal Eddins. As much as Chuck loves his kids, he adores his grandkids. They have many happy memories of being welcomed into his home and heart, playing at the beach, amusement parks and spending time together at home. They felt his love for them when he attended important events in their lives, but more importantly the grandkids knew they were loved because he was present and only a phone call or a FaceTime away! These blessed grandchildren include Ethan, Abby and Drew Farrenholz, Charlie, Ryan and Kristopher Ginger, Brittany, Cameron, Grant, and Rylee Shackelton, Tommy, Emily and Katy Ruffell, Elek, Keenan, Camden, Ilona, Ismayla, Lillyona, and Lovisa Haney. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Evan Shackelton, and his sister, Linda Marie Shackelton Densmore. The funeral will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, 3303 Belcher Road Dunedin, Florida. Viewing will proceed services starting at 9 A.M. Interment will be held at Bushnell National Cemetery Monday, April 22, 2019.
