Carolyn’s Obituary On Sunday, March 31, 2019, Carolyn Ayers Thrift, of Bowie MD, beloved wife of the late Lloyd W. Thrift; loving mother of Cindy E. Butler, of Covington, VA; Lloyd W. Thrift III, of Bowie, MD; and David R. Thrift, of Centerville, VA, passed away. She was an adoring grandmother of her six cherished grandchildren, Ben Butler, Daniel Thrift, Melissa Thrift, Emma Thrift, Megan Thrift, Samantha Smith and one great grandchild, Nolan Butler. Carolyn also has one brother, Roger D. Ayers of Orrtanna, PA. She is preceded in death by parents Dr. Theodore T. Ayers and Ethel Charlotte Dansie Ayers, age one hundred. Carolyn was a longtime resident of the Bowie, MD area and got her Master’s degree in special education from George Washington University and was in Who’s Who (a reference work on contemporary prominent people) while working full time and raising three children. Carolyn was an equal opportunity officer for the State of Maryland Automobile Insurance Agency until retirement. She was an avid book reader, gardener and loved to camp, travel, play the piano and drive her jeep. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the outings and comradery and group events. She always had a warm heart and was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by the ones she has touched and loved. Another angel gets her wings. Read More
