Barbara’s Obituary Haverhill, MA; Barbara A. (Mazzola) McCarthy, 75, died on Thursday April 4, 2019 at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Howarth) Mazzola. Barbara was a member of the graduating class of 1961 at Haverhill High School, after which she attended the Macintosh Business School in Haverhill. While attending a high school dance she met the love of her life, Kevin McCarthy, and they were married on October 16, 1966. Barbara worked as an administrative assistant at Family Bank for thirty years, but family was the most important part of her life. She was devoted and fiercely loyal to her family and friends of which she was fortunate to have many throughout her life. She graciously took on the role of caretaker for her husband as his health declined. Her heart was as big as the moon and she was fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor and was best friend material to everyone who knew her. Barbara loved to make crafts, cook for her family, and take long rides with them especially to the beach and along Coastal Maine. Barbara will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Matthew McCarthy and his significant other Donna Fleming of Salem, NH, daughter Erin Lynch and her husband Steve of Woburn, MA, brother Joseph Mazzola and his wife Flora of Haverhill, MA, grandchildren Shannon and Sean Lynch of whom she concluded every conversation with the words “I am so proud of you. I love you more.”, nephews Thomas Mazzola and his wife Lisa, and Michael Mazzola and his wife Melissa and their children Anthony, Nicholas, and Gary, nieces Elisa Parolisi and her significant other Joseph Deveau, great nephews Joseph Mazzola, Anthony Mazzola, Nicholas Mazzola, Gary Mazzola, great nieces Christina Tardif and her husband James and Gia Parolisi and her significant other David Lane, great, great-nephew and niece Cash Tardif and Mia Mazzola who brought Barbara great joy, cousins Joyce and Ronald Ferrazzani, Mark and Maureen Power, and Philip Cantone and their families, her husband’s cousins Judy and Bruce Baxter, Michael and Margie Driscoll, Joseph and Judy Driscoll, Robert Driscoll and their families, sister-in-law and friend Carol McCarthy, and grand-dogs Chance and Bailey. Predeceased by her husband of forty years Kevin McCarthy, father and mother-in-law John and Dorothy McCarthy, brother-in-law Jack McCarthy. Barbara’s family would like to express their gratitude for the many family, friends, and for those who cared for her throughout her life and during her time of illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barbara’s Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday April 10, 2019, from 4 to 8 P.M. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
