Eckels, 93, of Greenfield Senior Living in Harrisburg, formerly of Hershey and Hummelstown, passed away on April 25, 2019. She was born May 30, 1925 in Hummelstown, daughter of the late Mervin and Ida Lyter. Arlene loved life, loved her children and love to sing and dance. She went to Arthur Murray School of dance and had sung in the Don Peebles Band. She had many longtime friends and was loved by everyone who knew her. She worked for Senator William Lentz in the Senate of Pennsylvania throughout his term and also worked for US Congressman George Gekas throughout his term, until she retired at age 78. Arlene is survived by; daughters, Jacqueline Connelly of Mays Landing, NJ and Kim Miller of York Haven; son, Steven Eckels of Woodgate, NY; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Fleisher. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11AM in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, 88 Lucy Ave. in Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10AM.
