Angelo Basso Jr. January 23, 1924 – April 13, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Angelo Basso Jr., 95, of Easton, PA passed away on Saturday morning surrounded by his loving family. Angelo was born in Easton, PA, a son of the late Angelo Sr. and Hannah (Able) Basso. Angelo attended Easton High School and served in the United States Army during WWII. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Medal, and American Service Medal. Angelo was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a well-respected Union Representative for the textile industry. Some of the office’s that Angelo was elected to in the union were President of local 13105 district 50 United Mine workers union of America, Shop-Steward, Grievance committee, President of local 570 Sanco, Executive board local 570 Sanco, Trustee of Pension Plan-Sanco, Executive Board local 1710, Secretary of Safety committee local 1710, Shop-Steward local 1710 Che Metron Corp., Elected Sergeant of Arms for 1964-1966-1968 for conventions and many more elected positions. Angelo loved spending time with his family, gardening, selling at local flea markets, and he was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a member of many local clubs such as D.A.V. Life member, American Legion Post 9 Brown and Lynch, V.F.W. Post 4366 of Nazareth since 1995, Disabled American Veterans, Lehigh Valley Post 7, since 1982, A.A.R.P. since 1987, and the Ambassador Club. Angelo is survived by two daughters Kathie Perio and her husband David of McKinney, Texas, Belinda Frederick, of York, PA, a step son Thomas Benedick and his wife Dottie, of Bangor, Maine, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, a brother Gus Basso and his wife Judy of Springhill, Florida, and a special caretaker Granddaughter Tammie Kelshaw. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Clare (Soga) Basso, brothers Jack, Thomas and Paul Basso, and sisters Hannah (Honey Girl) Enea, Jean Richmond, Henrietta (Bubbles) Clause, Rosemarie (Becky) Bianco, Mary Basso, Patricia Basso and son-in-law, Paul Frederick, Jr., died earlier. Calling hour will be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas St. Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.) Additional Calling hour will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, in Palmer Twp., Contributions in Angelo’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Disabled American Veterans online.
