Alta Gabany, 88, of Campobello, SC, died Monday, April 22, 2019, at her home. Born February 28, 1931, in Washington County, OK, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Gladys Meyers Crawford. She was married for 62 years to the late Verner “Vern” Emil Gabany. A graduate of Alluwe High School in Oklahoma, Mrs. Gabany loved the Oklahoma Sooners and North Carolina Tarheels Basketball Teams. She was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg and a retired cafeteria worker with Chartwell at Pine Street Elementary School. Survivors include her two sons, Phillip Gabany (Kathy) of Warrenton, VA and Randy Gabany (Marcy) of Campobello, SC; grandchildren, Miranda Shelton (Clayton), Mikala Hudson (Timothy), Andrew Gabany (Leanna), Maggie Gabany, and Patton Reaves; and great-grandson, Evan Turner. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Daniel; and sister, Mary Louise Crawford. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist North Spartanburg General Fund, 8740 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29316.
