Mr. Shirley Smith, age 84, husband of Alma Jean Falin Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY; passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Golden Living Center in Stanford, KY. Shirley was born on February 22nd, 1935, in Rockcastle County, KY; a son of the late James George Smith , and the late Ollie Francis Alcorn Smith. He was a retired machinist at Tecumseh, was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed his family, hunting, gardening, and reading the Bible. Those left to celebrate his life are his wife: Alma Jean Falin Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY; four children: Mark Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY; Melvin Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY; Rodney Smith (Judy) of Brodhead, KY; and Amy Barnes (Michael) of Mt. Vernon, KY; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons: William Timothy Smith and Marvin Smith; one daughter: Enita Cheryl Smith Bradley; two grandsons; Eric Anthony Smith and Christopher Andrew Mink; six brothers and two sisters. Visitation for Mr. Shirley Smith will be Thursday, March 7th, 2019 from 11A.M. – 12P.M. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at 12P.M., at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Chad Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in the Crest Haven Cemetery. Casket Bearers are Ryan Bradley, T.J. Bradley, B.B. Bradley, Christian Mink, Keith Smith and Michael Barnes.
