Richard’s Obituary Richard Ashby Tavenner, 89, of Berryville, Virginia, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Winchester Medical Center. Mr. Tavenner was born May 12, 1929 in Leesburg, Virginia, son of the late Frederick Franklin Tavenner and Marion Virginia Beall Tavenner. He was the original owner and operator of R&R Excavating of Berryville, Virginia. He was a member of and big supporter of the Clarke County Ruritan Club and the Clarke County Fair. His wife, Mary Jane Tavenner, preceded him in death on February 14, 1993. He later married Elizabeth Pollen Moffet Tavenner. Surviving with his wife are a son, Richard A. Tavenner, Jr. of Berryville, VA; daughter, Sheila J. Parsell of Clearbrook, VA; grandchildren, Richard A. Tavenner III and his wife, Bethany, Althea J. Moran and her husband, James; and Frederick Charles Parsell; and great-grandchildren, Easton and Tinley Tavenner. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, with Mr. R. K. Shirley III officiating. Burial will be 1:00 P. M. following the funeral service in Sterling Cemetery, Sterling, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
