Obituary of Raymond “Jerry” Addington Raymond Jerry Addington, 78, of Deland, Florida formerly of Nickelsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Jerry was born in Scott County, VA to the late Frank Addington and Dorothy Wampler Cryder. He was a graduate of Unioto High School in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1958 and later attended Emory & Henry College. Jerry was known as a very good salesman and successful entrepreneur. He was a devoted father and friend to many and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a twin sister, Rosemary Addington. Survivors include his daughters, Yvonne Johnson, Lora Gammons and husband Justin; grandson, Bowen Gammons; sister, Jill Cryder; brother, Dr. Rick Cryder and wife Diane; longtime companion, Louise Blankenbeckler; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Dr. Rick Cryder officiating. Music will be provided by Randy Stallard. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Holston View Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession to the cemetery. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Addington family.
