Matthew “Matt”‘s Obituary BOLTE, Matthew J., “Matt”, age 53 of Vandalia, passed away suddenly on March 18, 2019. He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted parents, Bob and Ginny Bolte. Matt is survived by his loving siblings, Bob (Aida), Mary Ann (Terry) Toon, Tom (Helen), Phil and Peggy (Jim) Shirk, as well as nieces and nephews, Alan And Laura Bolte, Sara (Alex) Moore, Michael, Ryan and Alex Shirk and great-nephew and niece, Ewan and Molly Moore. Matt is also survived by many friends and caregivers (current and former) from the Stillwater Health Center where he resided for many years. Matthew lived a very special life and taught all that knew him about patience, love and the power of a smile. Matt lived a very special life. He brought joy to all those around him with his famous “welcome” greetings, warm smile and his loving, gentle nature. He enjoyed being around people, holding hands and a good piece of pumpkin pie. His family will miss him dearly but knows that he is now happily reunited with his parents and free of disability. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, March 22 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Fr. John Tonkin officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 pm until time of service.
