Mary Ellen Koop, 84 of Dongan Hills, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home. Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Louis Academy. She was an administrative assistant in the classifed departmet of the Staten Island Advance for 20 years, as well as a longtime parisioner of Holy Rosary Church, where she also volunteered. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and needle point knitting. But what brought her the greatest joy was time spent with her family. She was predeceased by her husband Fred C., who passed away in 2014. She was the loving mother to Linda Falco, Carol Montalbano, Fred, MaryAnn Cavataio, Alan and the Late Baby Paulie; dear sister to Mildred Jaccard; and devoted grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Holy Rosary Church located at 80 Jerome Ave Staten Island, New York 10305. A private cremation will follow The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York.
