Margaret E. “Peg” Miller, 83, of 131 Colonial Drive, Towanda, PA passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born in Towanda on February 10, 1936, the daughter of Charles E. Miller and Mary Finlan Miller, Peg graduated from St. Agnes High School in Towanda and worked at Ingersoll-Rand in Athens, PA for more than 30 years until retirement. Peg was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Towanda and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with people and took special care in reaching out to others through visiting and sharing good conversation, especially with those who were unable to leave their homes. Peg also took delight in taking long walks around town, teaching herself how to play the harmonica (and continuing to learn more, new songs), and engaging in crafts such as cross-stitch and knitting. Family was very important to Peg. She loved spending time with family, especially with her nieces and nephews. As they were growing up, Peg would host them for sleepovers that often featured her signature dishes of frozen pizza and burnt popcorn. Peg’s family includes her brothers, J. Edward Miller of W. Burlington, PA, Michael J. Miller of Towanda, sister-in-law, Marilyn Miller of Towanda, brother-in-law, John Young of Surprise, AZ, and her many nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and nephews. Her nieces and nephews are Mark Miller, Leslie (Miller) Purser, Steve Miller, Dan Miller and Pete Miller; Debi (Young) Mauricio and Scott Young; Theresa (Miller) Saik, Mary (Kate) Miller and Ann (Miller) Gregory; Mike Miller, Maurie (Miller) McCorkle, Kathie Miller and C.B. Miller. In addition to her parents, Peg was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Miller Young, brother, Charles F. “Skip” Miller, sister-in-law, Sharon P. Miller, step mother, Florence Sullivan Miller, niece, Marguerite Miller, and nephews, Jeffrey Charles Miller and Timothy John Miller. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 5 to 7 pm. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Church, Third St. Towanda, PA with Rev. Edward Michelini, pastor as celebrant. Interment will be at a later date in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, N. Towanda, PA. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to SS.
