Lemuel Rodolph Haxton of Yale, Oklahoma September 14, 1929 – March 3, 2019 Lemuel R. Haxton, also known as Hack or Dolphy to family and friends, and longtime Yale resident, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the age of 89 years old, in Cushing, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. Hack was born September 14, 1929, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, to parents, George Henry and Bertha (Lomenick) Haxton. He grew up in the Gotebo area and graduated from the Union City High School in 1947. He was a civilian employee at Tinker Air Force Base until moving to Yale in 1953 upon the death of his mother, Bertha, from a car crash. He came to take care of his injured father and the farm. Always a hard worker, he went to work for the Hope/Davenport House Moving Company for many years. Later, he worked in the carpentry business, salt water hauling, and for the last several years as a pumper. In 1956, he met the love of his life, Norma Jean Cargill, and married her five months later on July 13 – Friday the 13th! They were married for over 62 years. Five children were born to this union. Hack will always be remembered for his sense of humor and orneriness. He enjoyed teasing and cutting up with family and friends. When moving to Yale, he became the big brother to several teen-aged boys on the neighboring farms. Surviving Hack are his loving wife, Norma Jean; children – Sharon & Dan Green, Doug & Monique Haxton, Judy & Jim Brewer, Paula Stollings and Greg Haxton; grandchildren – Crystal & Byron Bemis, Jacinta Sears, Matt & Brandi Stollings, Leigh & David Tushka, Lance & Jacqueline Green, Erin & Logan Hall, Rusty & Keli Haxton, Whitney & James McDoulett, Matt Haxton, Mona O’Kelley, Tommy O’Kelley, Colin & Miranda Brewer, and Ryan Howard; great-grandchidren – David, Adeline, Alyse, Isaiah, Noah, Jonathan, Edith, Benjamin, Taylor, James, Nikia, Bret, Shelby, Austin, Renee, Jeffrey, Rowyn, Cole, Owen, Aniston, Maci, Ashlen, Chayse, Blayne, Koden, Brogan, Bryson and Mikayla. Also surviving are his sister, Louise Wallace, Norma Jean’s brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Dan and Mary Reece. Hack dearly loved his family and was dearly loved in return. Hack was preceded in death by his parents – George & Bertha Haxton, parents-in-law – Orion & Beulah Cargill, sister Lucille Anderson, two brothers-in-law – Luke Anderson & Milan Wallace, and son-in-law, Ron Howard, and daughter-in-law Edna Haxton. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Greenwood Cemetery south of Yale, Oklahoma, with Bro. Mich Dershem, Fellowship Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
