John Mack Jefferson Sr February 7 1944 March 6 2019

John’s Obituary Funeral services for John Mack Jefferson Sr. will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, OK with Bro. Doug McClure officiating. John passed from this life March 6, 2019, in Hugo, OK at the age of 75. John Mack Jefferson Sr. was born February 7, 1944, to Christopher “Christy” Matthewson Jefferson and Faye Geneva (Benson) Jefferson, in Wright City, OK. John married the love of his life, Stella Lemons, September 19, 1968, in Hugo, OK. Together they enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage. He had lived in the Hugo area since 1973 and was of the Baptist faith. He was raised in Wright City and still has many lifelong friends in the area. John loved hunting and tinkering with guns. He was a social butterfly and enjoyed visiting at Angie’s Diner. In his younger years he loved to go dancing, but he never took a date because he would dance with all the ladies. In fact, John signed up to enlist when his friend said he was going to sign up. He said this in front of some pretty girls, so John said he’d enlist too to impress the girls. As it turned out, he loved the Marine Corps. He loved the United States of America and was proud to be an American. John was a crypto-technician in the Marines and was a Marine through and through. The two things he was most proud of in his life were his family and his service to his country. He was an affectionate and loving Daddy, believing in his children even when they didn’t. He instilled in them the belief that they could do anything they set their mind to if they wanted it badly enough. He loved his wife with all his heart, even when he turned off his hearing aids so he couldn’t hear her. They met at the Choctaw County Fair on September 1, 1968 and married 19 days later. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. All who knew him knew what a diehard conservative he was politically, and his penchant for sharing his opinion abundantly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christy and Faye Jefferson; two brothers, Chris Jefferson and Joe Jefferson; and one sister, Norma Jefferson. John is survived by his wife, Stella, of the home; son, John Jefferson Jr. and wife, Meredith, of Antlers, OK; daughter, Carolyn “CJ” and husband, Eugene Norvell, of Whitesboro, OK; sister, Janie Allensworth, of Sobol, OK; two grandsons, Colton Jefferson, and Caleb Jefferson; Furbaby, “Tiny Baby” the 40 lb. weeny dog; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends, Friday, March 6, 2019, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home. Read More
