Jimmy Lester Baxter age 73 passed away at his home on Monday March 25, 2019. Jimmy was born on November 26, 1945. He was a lifelong resident of Sneads, FL. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army and was very proud to be a veteran in the Vietnam War. He worked many years at Florida State Hospital. While there he worked on the paint crew. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who spent many days on Lake Seminole doing what he loved best, catching the biggest fish in the lake. He also spent many, many day running dogs and hunting deer up on River Road. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie “Rooster” Baxter and Verna Baxter of Sneads, sister Linda Gilley of Sneads, FL. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 35 years Betty Faye Baxter of Sneads, FL, one brother Wayne Baxter and wife Vickie of Sneads, FL, four children Shane Baxter and wife Jennifer of Lake Talquin, Phillip Gilley of Grand Ridge, FL ,Mary May and husband Philip of Grand Ridge, FL, Beth Copeland and husband Raymond of Sneads, FL, eight grandchildren & twelve great grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. Services for Jimmy will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 28, 2019 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Eva Mae Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Carpenter Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Covenant Hospice.
