James “Jim” L. Verderber January 16, 1937 – March 29, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook James “Jim” Verderber, 82, of Washington died on Friday, March 29, 2019, in the Donnell House. He was born on January 16, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late Otto and Helen Fonner Verderber. A 1955 graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Verderber was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for twenty-seven years at American Hardware Manufacturing and at Brockway Glass for twenty-nine years. A handyman, who loved to fix anything, Jim enjoyed yardwork, and taking care of his cars. On September 30, 1983, he married Marilyn Day, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David (Amy) Verderber, of Houston, PA, and Mark Verderber, of Washington; a sister, Helen Jean Venema, of Sebring, FL; two grandchildren, Brandon (Whitni) Verderber, of Tulsa, OK, and Laura (Prather) Silverthorn, of Florence, SC; a great grandchild, Riley Verderber, of Tulsa, OK; several nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Larry (Eleanor) Day, and William (Marlene) Day. Deceased are two brothers, John and Joe Verderber. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut St., Washington, PA. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
