Jacqueline’s Obituary Jacqueline “Jackie” Alter of Rockwood, MI, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, March 9, 2019. She was born October 20, 1952 in Ypsilanti, MI, youngest daughter of John Carl & Angeline Jeannette (Piecha) Fensch. She graduated from Belleville High School, Class of 1970. Jackie is survived by her step-daughter Shana (Darren) Bielby of Saginaw, MI, 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Lauren and Olivia; siblings Gail Treece and Allan Fensch, both of Belleville, MI, one nephew Eric Treece of Elizabeth, CO, two nieces Jessica Marie Fensch of Jackson, MI and Sara Nicole (Ryan) Buffa of Farmington Hills, MI, also numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, also her husband Edward John Alter on June 1, 2003. Jackie enjoyed attending and helping out at the various marine marts and Know Your Ships book signings, and made many friends in the Boatnerd community. She had a strong interest in the ships that sailed the Great Lakes, especially the Wilfred Sykes and Edward L. Ryerson, of which her nephew was captain. She will also be remembered for her love of horses and horseback riding. She enjoyed spending time at her own, and her family’s cottages. She looked forward every year to attending the NASCAR race weekend in Brooklyn, MI, every June. She was proud to have been able to contribute to the MIS Cares charity event in December. Jackie worked for Hertz at Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport for more than 40 years. In keeping with Jackie’s wishes, a dignified cremation has been entrusted to David C. Brown Funeral Home, Belleville, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to a horse rescue of the donor’s choice. Thank you for keeping Jackie and her family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
