Irene’s Obituary Anna Irene Divine, age 100, Joplin, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Mercy of Carthage. Irene was born November 7, 1918 in Southwest City, Missouri, daughter of the late William Brice Asher and Cora Frances Manning Asher. Irene was a lifelong resident of the Joplin area, and spent her life taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed being involved with the ATA Lodge in Saginaw where along with her husband Red, they hosted the Hootenannies for many years. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon “Red” Divine, a daughter, Joanne Green, brothers, Ray Asher, and Cleo Asher, a sister, Pauline Evans; and three grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Miller and husband Bob of Carterville, Missouri; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Sharp and husband Jim of Sunnyvale, California, several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 by having the burial of her ashes at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, next to Red, then the family will go to her house for one last Sunday dinner at Grandma’s house.
