Ida’s Obituary Ida Jean O’Dell, 86, of Richmond, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at her residence in Richmond. Ida Jean O’Dell was born on August 24, 1932, in Odessa, the daughter of James and Lizzie Mae (Huffman) Barker. She was united in marriage to Raymond Gerald O’Dell on November 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2005. Survivors include: two sons: Rex O’Dell of the home and Johnnie O’Dell (Theresa) of Buckner; two daughters: Karry Fields (Matt) and Kimberly Mace (Bobby) both of Richmond; 29 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Clint O’Dell and Gerald “Jerry” O’Dell, brothers: Gilbert Barker, Jay Barker, and twins Martin and Marion Barker, two sisters: Francis Irene Kelly and Edna Beateress “Betty” Jones, 5 grandchildren: Lori Jean O’Dell, Chana O’Dell, Cherrie O’Dell, Daylon O’Dell, and Travis O’Dell, great-grandson Austin Derrick O’Dell; and daughter-in-law Diana O’Dell. Jean was an avid cook and baker; always in the kitchen putting together extravagant meals for her extended family. She loved mushroom hunting with her kids and grandchildren and would always be the first out in the season. In her younger years, she was employed at Lake City Ammunition until trading that in to become a homemaker and putting all of her focus on the upbringing of her 6 children. She was a loving and supporting mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As her children grew and began having children of their own, there’s nothing she loved more than getting everyone together in her home for Sunday dinner. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northeast of Richmond.
