Obituary of Howard M. Marks Howard M. “Harpo” Marks, age 98 of Dexter passed away Saturday morning at Samaritan Keep Home. Harpo was born October 26, 1920 in Dexter, the son of Frank and Pauline Youngs Marks. A graduate of Dexter High School; he entered the US Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Keitha M. Martin in 1945 in Watertown. Harpo drove bus for Greyhound. He was a member of Rustic Golf Club, American Legion Post 583 of Dexter, and Trans American Union. He is survived by his wife Keitha, a resident of Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown and three children and their spouses: Terry and Ron Nichols of Brownville, Joseph and Catherine Marks of Brownville, Steven and Millie Marks of Hilton Head, SC. Seven grandchildren include: Rob Nichols, Lisa Lennox, Amy Hinds, Michael Marks, Tim Marks, Brian Marks, great grandchildren are: Kyle and Kori Nichols, Nick and Kacy Lennox, Sierra and Mia Hinds, Matthew Marks, April Robert, Mallory and Colden Marks, Connor and Carter Marks. A great great grandchild Carley Robert also survive and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Hugh Marks and Sisters Marion Burke and Jacqueline Storey and adopted brother Paul O’Connor. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Dexter Cemetery with a “Celebration of Life to follow at a place and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.
