Herbert (Herb) P. Hanson age 94 of Motley passed away at the Little Falls Care Center on Friday, March 8, 2019. He was born on December 15, 1924 to Cecila (Eckes) and Henry (Alfred) Hanson in Crosby, Minnesota. Herb served in the US Navy aboard the Rainier used until 1970. He was assigned to an ammunition ship in the Pacific During WWII. He married Elsie I. Davis on July 21, 1948 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, MN. Herb was a master wood cutter. He loved to play cards and work puzzles. He was a farmer for many years. Herb will be deeply missed by his wife, Elsie; children, Sandy (Randy) Jenkins of Motley, Ronnie (Cindy) Hanson of Motley, Diane (Greg) Johnson of Staples, Deb (Tim) Cline of Browerville, Pam (Moris) Carter of Staples; 16 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Della Hanson of Motley. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Harlin; infant grandson, Sheldon; brother, Donald and sister, Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial for Herb will be held 10:30 am on Friday, March 15, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley with Father Gabriel Walz presiding. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Poplar Cemetery in Poplar Township.
