Edgar Samuel “Sam” Cahill of Salem, Missouri left this world on December 20, 2018 at the age of 72. He was born on May 17, 1946 in Fenton, Missouri to Edgar Cahill SR and Myrtle Boyer Cahill. Sam proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 21, 1963, he married the love of his life Miss Barbara Gorman. This union was blessed with two children. Sam was a member of Montauk Baptist Church, and was baptized at the age of 13. He enjoyed drag racing, and had made a name for himself with his 57 Chevy, he called “Rock of Ages”. Sam loved to work on and build engines, he still one ready and waiting for the right car; it was the speed he enjoyed, the faster the better. He later found jet boat racing, especially after he figured out how to spray people with his boat motor while he was enjoying the Current River. Sam retired from the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed camping with his family, spending time with family and friends, but most especially playing with his grandchildren. Sam was a tough, but fair man who always lived by the motto, “Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.” Sam is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Barbara Gorman Cahill of Salem, MO; children, Scott Cahill and wife Susie, of Salem, MO, and Jennifer Veo and husband Adam, of Rolla, MO; grandchildren, Samantha Sidwell, Skyler Veo, Candice Hawks, Makayla Cahill, and Kylee Cahill; great-grandchildren, Paisley Raeigh Rawlings, and Jack Owen Hawks; honorary brother Bobby Williams, of Fenton, MO; a host of extended family and many friends. Funeral Services for Sam Cahill will be Sunday December 23, 2018 at 2:00 P.M at James & Gahr Mortuary in Salem, with Rev. Bill Stack officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will be at Green Forest Cemetery. Visitation for Family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 4-7 PM.
