Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy Fae Pryor, 94, of Kansas City, formerly of Camden, died Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Dorothy was born on March 22, 1925, in Camden, the daughter of Elbert Spencer and Melissa (Hawkins) Chunn. She was united in marriage to Charles Lester Yaw of Walnut Grove, AR, in 1946; to this union, her three children were born. They later divorced. Dorothy would then spend 25 years with her significant other, Raymond Flummer from Eureka, KS. He preceded her in death in July 2010. Survivors include: one son: Charles Elbert Yaw (Elizabeth Murtheh-Yaw) of Parkville; one daughter: Kathy O’Dell (Jack) of Orrick; 4 grandchildren: Amie Brock (Rodney), Bryan O’Dell (Aerin), Spencer Yaw (Yana Yen), and Kari Playter (Jay); and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Alisa Mae Sacco, her brother, John Elbert Chunn, and three sisters: Dessie Mae McDonald and two in infancy. Dorothy grew up and was educated in Camden and graduated from the Camden High School. During WWII, she worked at Lake City Arsenal making ammunition for the war. Besides being a housewife and homemaker, she worked as a book keeper and office manager for Russell & Sons Construction Company in Eureka, KS, where she retired. Dorothy was a lifelong Methodist and belonged to the Camden Methodist Church then to the Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, FL, where she was also an active member of the Lemon Bay Women’s Club. Dorothy was a great ambassador for Primrose Place in Kansas City and will be missed by all the people there. Dorothy loved traveling, playing games, and gardening. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed her life. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cravens Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond; Reverend Dave Hackett, from the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit to officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:30 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cravens Cemetery near Camden.
