Donald Lee “Don” Dennison age 89, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Mercy Health – St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will take place at Hamilton Township Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 1-7 P.M. with family present from 1-4 & 5-7 P.M. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Don was born in Saginaw, MI on July 17, 1929, the son of Archie and Elma (Gotwalt) Dennison. On October 9, 1948, he married Jacqueline “Jackie” Goodrich. Together they shared 65 years of marriage prior to her passing on October 27, 2013. Don enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and going for rides in the woods. Spending time with family and friends was always important to him. Together, he and Jackie enjoyed many years wintering in Texas. Don was a member of Carpenters’ Local #706. Don is survived by 5 children: Donalee Schmidt of Hudsonville, Donald R. (Paula) Dennison of Bay City, David (Jill) Dennison of Ithaca, Dennis (Deb) Dennison of Ithaca, Daniel (Cindy) Dennison of Ithaca; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, a brother Robert (Yvonne) Dennison, a sister-in-law Sally (Dave) Holland, and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jackie, grandson David Dennison II, 3 brothers: Wayne, Bill, and Emerson; and son-in-law Michael Schmidt.
