Carroll Gallagher Clayton, “Mom”, “Grandma”, “GG”, formerly of Jersey City and Glen Ridge, NJ, passed away peacefully at home with her son Thomas and family in Stamford, NY on March 23, 2019. Born in Jersey City, N.J. on December 15, 1925, Carroll was the youngest of the 7 Gallagher children. She married John A. Clayton on Aug. 6, 1949 and she and Jack raised their family in Glen Ridge, NJ where Carroll taught in the high school. Carroll is survived by her 7 children, Jane (Bill Indruk), Liz (Billy Buchanan), John (Debbie d. 1994), Roger (Laurie d. 2018), Thomas (Joan), Billy (Jean) and Robert (Eleanor), 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Jack. Carroll was loved by so many. She was devoted to her family and the many others that she made feel were a part of it. Viewing will be held at Van Tassel Funeral Home in Bloomfield, NJ on Friday March 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield on Saturday March 30, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
