Audrey “Jerry” Walton Boatwright Nash March 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card NASH, Audrey “Jerry” Walton Boatwright, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at 6:24 p.m. on March 27, 2019. She was, and always will be, remarkable. She was an incredible, strong, brave woman – a survivor, the matriarch of the family. Jerry’s eternal love for her husband, Robert D. Nash Sr., and the love that he showed her in return through their 65 years together was an inspiration to all who had the privilege to witness it. She never missed a chance to boast about her loved ones to anyone who would listen, including complete strangers. Her presence made every room she stepped into warm and joyous; she had this astounding ability to make anywhere feel like home. Jerry was quick-witted, strong-willed and bright. She loved music and joyfully sang in the church choir throughout her life. She began every morning reading the newspaper, front to back, with a hot cup of coffee in her hand. Her “old Richmond” manner of speaking made every word elegant, and her smart sense of humor only added to her charm. She was driven, having earned her associate’s degree later in life, with a deep passion for the medical sciences. Between Jerry, her medical books, and the internet, she could make an educated guess on almost any diagnosis. Her sense of style surpassed that of legendary fashion icons. “If the shoe fits, buy one in every color,” perfectly captures her approach to shopping. Robert Sr. and Jerry knew the servers’ names at all of their favorite restaurants, from The Crazy Greek to the Pickle Barrel. The cabinet was fully stocked with assorted sweets, but she only ate chocolate on days that ended with “Y.” Conversations with her were the best kind; the ones that felt like minutes but actually lasted hours. She is preceded in death by her parents, Drewry Walton and Audrey Winn Boatwright. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Davenport Nash Sr.; her sister, Dale Boatwright Griggs (Tommy); her brother, Daniel Boatwright (Brenda); two sons, Robert Davenport Nash Jr. (Christine) and David Walton Nash; and three grandchildren, Alexa Boatwright Nash (fiance Eric Bianchi), Robert Davenport Nash III and Ryan Kemp Nash. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the West Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at Berea Baptist Church, 15475 Ashland Road, Rockville, Va. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
