Steve Dewayne Wright, 61, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:17 PM July 27, 2018 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born July 24, 1957 the son of James Frank & Freda Catherine (Austin) Wright in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Steve is survived by his siblings, Danny Wright and wife, Debbie of Ina, Illinois, Jane Linville and significant other, Sean Martin of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and David Wright and wife, Helen of Griffith, Indiana; half-siblings, Raymond Wright of Rockford, Illinois and Inez Capps of Rock Island; sister-in-law, Marie Hamilton of Benton, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Cantrell, Kenny Wright, Bobby Wright, and Rayman Wright; sisters, Carolyn Cantrell and Alice Jane Wright; niece, Amber Prichard; nephews, Mike Wright and Christopher Bryan Wright; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Steve enjoyed his early years with his family playing horseshoe, riding bikes, and playing volleyball. Steve worked for many years at Opal’s Café and Flota’s Antiques until his failing health. He never met a stranger. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at West Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois followed by a luncheon. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
