Obituary for Mary T. Walrath Mary T. Walrath of Gloversville, passed away on January 22, 2018, while visiting family in Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was beloved by all and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and her community. She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence, caring spirit and as a bright shining light in the various communities, Churches and organizations she served. Born in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Achilles and Jenny (Muscato) Tofinchio. She graduated from Gloversville High School at which point she went on to the Nathan Littauer School of Nursing where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was employed as a Supervising Registered Nurse at Nathan Littauer Hospital from 1953 – 1956, and as a Private Duty Nurse from 1956 until her employment with the Fulton County Government where she retired. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Nathan Littauer Alumni Association, and the local chapter of Women of the Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, and being involved with and helping out in her community. Mary was a very doting wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John “Jack” Walrath; her son, John G. Walrath; her daughter-in-law, Linda W. Walrath; her grandson, John W. Walrath; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents, and her siblings: Joseph Tofinchio who was killed in Normandy, Rufus Tofinchio, Julius “Chuck”Tofinchio, Rosemary Tofinchio, and Jerry Tofinchio. The family will receive family and friends at the Amico Funeral Home at 150 South Main Street, Gloversville, NY on Friday, January 26, 2018, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Amico Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit at 11:00 a.m. Spring internment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mary T. Walrath’s name may be made to the Church of the Holy Spirit at 153 S. Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078; Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 and the Association of the Blind, 507 Kent Street, Utica, NY 13501.
