Celebration of Life Service for Mary J. Prater is 1:00p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at Thankful Baptist Church, Pastor Charlie Parker, Officiating. Interment following at Hillcrest Cemetery Mary Julia Prater was born on May 21, 1934 to the late Osie and Evelyn Smith Prater. Mary confessed to Christ at an early age with Thankful Baptist Church in Piedmont, where she remained a faithful member until her demise. Mary Julia attended Piedmont City School System, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. Mary continued her education, attending Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary was preceded in death by her three sons, Marcus Spears, Julius Prater, Danny Prater; two brothers, Bobby Prater, Daniel Lee Prater; four grandchildren, Trenton Brown, Christian Cantrell, Latoya Thomas, Carmacho Brown; Mary leaves those to cherish her loving memories, three daughters & six sons, Teresa (Lewis) Sharpley, Covington, GA, Vincent (Robin) Sharpley, Lawrenceville, GA, Timmye (Judy) Prater, Rex, GA, Anthony Spears, Doniece (Billy Jo) Hendrix, Cedric (Christy)Prater, Jose Prater, Maurice Prater, April Prater, all of Piedmont, AL; twenty-three grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Timothy(Lillie) Prater, Gadsden, AL, Jerry Prater, Huntsville, AL, Ocie Prater, Jacksonville, FL, Willie Prater, Rex, GA; special friends, Jean Ludy and Madrose Harbor and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
