Obituary for Marilyn Florina Longstreth Marilyn F. Longstreth, age 87, of Wheatfield and DeMotte, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Franciscan Hospital of Crown Point. She was born January 24, 1931 in Cedar Lake, Indiana to John and Susan (Hoffman) Sauer. Marilyn was a graduate of DeMotte High School, Class of 1949. On October 15, 1949 she married William Harry Longstreth in Wheatfield, Indiana. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1999. Marilyn retired as a program technician at Farm Service Agency, formerly ASCS office in Rensselaer after 18 years. Prior, she worked as a teacher’s aide and in the cafeteria at the KVHS. Marilyn was a member of the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir, the Altar Rosary Sodality, and a past member of the Jasper County Chordettes. She enjoyed her flowers & vegetable gardening, playing pinochle & working on puzzles. Marilyn is survived by her children: Susan Joseph; Becky (Dave) Deardorff; Jack (Cathy Raab) Longstreth; Dave Longstreth; Don Longstreth; Mary (Len) Finney; Sheryl (Frank Moore) Longstreth; Tom Longstreth; daughter-in-law, Chris Longstreth; grandchildren: Barbara Deardorff; Mark (Molly) Deardorff; Kari Mendoza; Joshua (Maria) Longstreth; Brandy (Chris) Carman; Ryan (Kathlene) Longstreth; Eric (Tiara) Schrombeck; Magan Schrombeck; Jordan (Jamar) Wingo; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Hoffman; sisters-in-law, Sis Longstreth and Rosemary Jones. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sons: Edward Longstreth and Leon Longstreth. Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 with a Prayer Service beginning at 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Father Paul Cochran officiating. Interment will be held at the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church Food Pantry.
