Obituary for Laurene Marie Fuhrmeister Laurene (Laurie) Marie Fuhrmeister passed away on July 10th, 2018 in Miami, OK. She was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 23rd, 1954 to Norman Calvin Van Acker and Elizabeth Ann (Rottenbucher) Van Acker. Paul and Laurie Fuhrmeister were married September 13th, 1986 in Toledo, Ohio. Laurie spent her early career working as a registered nurse before leaving to raise four children. She and Paul moved to the Miami area in 1994 and became members at New Life Church of the Nazarene. She served her church through Nazarene Missions International in Arizona; Malawi, Africa; Mexico; and the Dominican Republic. A warrior for Christ, she dedicated her life to helping others and sharing God’s love. Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Norman, her mother, Elizabeth, and step-father Joseph Scarpaci. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Paul Fuhrmeister; daughter and son-in-law Karen Fuhrmeister and Roman Bass of Broken Arrow; sons, Gregory Fuhrmeister of Miami and Michael Fuhrmeister of Pittsburg, Kansas; daughter, Anna Fuhrmeister of Miami; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Marie Van Acker of Petoskey, Michigan; sister, Lisa Van Acker of Mesa, Arizona; and brothers, Jeffrey and Clinton Van Acker of Phoenix, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 18th at Miami New Life Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pre-Emptive Love, A21 Campaign, or Open Doors. Laurie’s urn will be placed at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
