Mary E. “Betty” Mauf, age 97, of Madison, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Bethel Lutheran Home, Madison. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 3, 2018, at Madison United Methodist Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will 5-7 PM Thursday at Ellsworth Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. Mary Elizabeth Trueb was born July 15, 1921, at Dubuque, IA to Anthony and Lillian (Volrath) Trueb. Betty graduated from Madison High School in 1939 and married Arthur Mauf on December 10, 1949, at Madison. Over the years, Betty worked at Northwest Bank, State Theatre, Madison Daily Leader and at Madison High School as a kitchen aide. She also worked with her husband on the farm. Betty was an avid card player, bowler and was well known for her cooking, especially her homemade noodles. Betty’s grandkids were the love of her life. Betty was a member of Madison United Methodist Church, UMW, and LeRoy Ladies Club. Survivors include her husband Art of Madison; three children, Elaine (Bob) Manthey of Destin, FL, Timothy (Paula) Mauf of Niceville, FL, and Linda (Dan) Stewart of Ramona; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margurite DeRungs and Myrtle Shiffer, and one brother, Tony Trueb.
