Obituary of Arthur Berkau, Jr. Arthur F. “Art” Berkau, Jr., age 77, of Aston, PA, formerly of Portage, PA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. Art was born in Gary, Indiana on December 9, 1940 to the late Arthur R. Berkau and Florence E. (Hannakan) Berkau. He was a graduate of Portage Area High School and the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. Art started his career as a Bricklayer at John B. Kelly, Inc. for 20 years before starting his own business as a Building Construction Contractor and Administrator for more than 30 years. He also served for the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. Art was a member of the Masonic Lodge #352 and #236; Scottish Rite Tall Cedars Penn Forest; Aston Township Zoning Boards; and Delaware County Field and Stream Association. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed football and baseball. He loved brainteasers, puzzles, reading, and grilling. SURVIVORS: Wife of 54 loving years: Barbara Berkau Daughter: Christine (Gregory) Saunders Son: Arthur Scott (Patricia) Berkau Three Grandchildren: Kristy, Jenna and Casey Great Granddaughter: Alivionna Funeral Service: Saturday 10:00 AM, July 7, 2018, at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte#352) & Knowlton Roads, Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063. Visitation: Friday, July 6, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 9:00-9:45AM at the funeral home. Interment: Prospect Cemetery in Portage, PA at a later day. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be given in memory of Arthur F. Berkau to Williamson College of the Trades, 106 S. New Middletown Rd., Media, PA 19063.
