Obituary for Helen Werner Helen Werner, long-time Decatur resident, passed away May 14, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Springfield, MO. She was born January 17, 1924 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Walter and Jennie Albright Gibson. She grew up and lived in Hannibal until moving to Decatur in 1952. She retired after many years working as a cashier for Tolly’s Market. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard (Dick) Werner, sisters, Nina Cothron and Ruth Maddox, step-sister, Cherie Zimmerman, daughter, Dickie Hoffman, grandson, Tim Turk, and daughter-in-law, Linda Werner. Her family and her pets were why she lived. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Turk, Springfield, MO, son, Steve Werner (Nora), Panama City, FL, daughter, Debbie McPherson (Robert), Decatur, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild. She also had several beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Springfield, MO or the Decatur and Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation.
