Obituary for Jon de Vries Dunn Jon passed away suddenly on May 28, 2018 of natural causes. He was living in Covington, Georgia. Jon was born and raised in Salem County, New Jersey, graduating from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1976. After high school, he attended Salem Community College studying electronics and instrumentation. He went to further his education at the University of Delaware. Jon worked for several years in the nuclear industry working at Hope Creek nuclear plant as well as other sites on the east coast. Jon went to work for Mannington Mills and recently celebrated 25 years with Mannington. He was an Inventory Manager at their Madison, Georgia site which involved him criss-crossing the country to get new sites integrated into the Mannington inventory system. Jon’s interests including hiking, swimming, bowling, golf, shooting darts, riding his motorcycle and skiing. Jon enjoyed gardening, the Eagles, antiquing, and generally anything you asked him to do, he was up for it. Of all the things Jon did, he will be most remembered for how he gave himself to others. He was always helping someone and was the first to volunteer for a fundraiser or event. He donated his time to several relief missions in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. He was the former Chapter Chairman of the Salem County Red Cross and was a member of the Alloway Vets. He was also a member of the Twin Bridges Ski Club for many years and enjoyed skiing in the Poconos, Vermont and Lake Tahoe. He was a member of the Sharptown Methodist Church, Sharptown, NJ. Jon was predeceased by his parents Robert and Mamie Dunn of Pennsville, NJ and half-brother Robert Dunn, Jr. of Wilmington, DE. He is survived by his half-brother William Dunn of Lewes, DE, his sister, Barbara Clark of Bridgeton, NJ, and sister Robin Thompson of Carney’s Point, NJ. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be held at Wheelers Funeral Home, Covington, Georgia on Sunday, June 3rd at 3 pm and friends may call at 2 pm. On June 10th a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at Ashcraft’s Funeral Home in Pennsville, NJ. Friends may call at 2 p.m. The family asks the in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of their choice.
