Lloyd William Brinker, 97, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Evansville Protestant Home. Lloyd was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 12, 1921 to the late John J. and Norma C. (Schroeder) Brinker. He graduated from Central High School and honorably served as a Captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II. During his service, Lloyd was a hump pilot, flying 85 round-trip missions between Burma and India in a C-46. Lloyd retired from Indiana Bell (AT&T)… Read More » in 1986 after many years of service. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the cabin on the Wabash River with family and friends. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ for over 30 years. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Martha Swonder Brinker of Evansville, IN; daughters, Sharon Ayers (Dennis) of Phoenix, AZ, Linnette Lindley (Lew) of Tucson, AZ, Carolyn Dean (Mike) of Newburgh, IN, Peggy Krantz (Bob) of Newburgh , IN, and Jamie Whitledge of Evansville, IN; son, Richard Swonder of Evansville, IN; brother, Glenn Brinker (Willi) of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law, Terry Brinker of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren; and by 7 great-grandchildren. Lloyd was preceded in death his first wife, Joan (Davis) Brinker; by his parents; son, William Brinker; and by his brother, Eugene Brinker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 6400 Oak Hill Rd., Evansville, IN 47725 with Rev. Mark Sirnic officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military honors. Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Wednesday.
