Carmela (Bonina) Brancaleone, 57, beloved wife of Thomas Brancaleone, of Gloucester, passed away at home surrounded by her family following a long courageous battle with glioblastoma. Born in Gloucester on October 17, 1960, daughter of the late Giovanni Bonina and Isabella (Capone) Bonina. Carmela was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the Class of 1978 and graduate of Burdette College. For many years, she had worked for Dr. Patel at Mass General Hospital in Boston as a secretary, followed by working at home as a medical transcriptionist for Dr. Ivo. Carmela was very devoted to her family and was happiest when she had everyone at home with her. She was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Boston Bruins and loved listening to music. Carmela was very devout in her faith and will be greatly missed by family and friends. In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by her son Joseph and daughter Grace Brancaleone and her fiancé Trevor Carey, and her beloved dog, Lady, her uncle Emilano Capone and Aunt Antonina Capone, her brother Andrew Bonina and his wife Darlene, mother-in-law Grace Brancaleone, sister-in-law Lucia Taormina and husband Michael, brothers-in-law Giuseppe Brancaleone and wife Audrey, Anthony and wife Cristina, Mario and wife Joanna and sister-in-law Brenda Brancaleone. She was loved and will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as her special friend Rose Aloi. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her father-in-law Joseph Brancaleone and brother-in-law Salvatore Brancaleone. Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Tuesday, May 29th from 4 to 8 p.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
