William E. Scheer, 65, of Rockford, passed away in his home on May 23, 2018. Born October 24, 1952 in Fort Wayne, Indiana; he was the son of Elmer W. and Edna (Schroeder) Scheer. He married Sharon D. Court on June 7, 1975 in Rockford. Bill was a 1975 graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and member of Bethesda Covenant Church, Rockford. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sharon Scheer; sister, Marilyn (Harold) Geist; sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Kenny; nieces, Angel (Bryan) Albright and Joy Geist; nephews, Aaron (Tracy) Geist, Jeff (Liz) Genrich, Greg Genrich and Brian (Desirae) Genrich; and his life-time friend, Hal (Jana) Reinking. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held 11a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 E State St, Rockford. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
