Obituary for Edward “Eddie” Goddard Long time Murrieta resident, Edward (Eddie) Donald Goddard passed away on April 25, 2018 in Ventura, CA. Ed was born on February 10, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. He was an only child and was raised by his mother, Rose. He joined the United States Navy in 1943 and served in World War II in the South Pacific. He married Jeanne Tegardine in 1943 and they had two daughters. He worked as a welding engineer and salesman. The family moved from Chicago to Phoenix, Arizona in 1964 and to Santa Ana, California in 1965. He was socially at ease and had many friends. He and Jeanne entertained often. One of their favorite evenings with friends was spent at a bluff overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach, barbequing by candlelight. After he retired, they moved to Visalia, California in 1988 and to Murrieta, California in 1998. He enjoyed fishing and the Owens River was one of his favorite spots. In recent years he took his grandsons camping there with him. He was a loyal member of the Elks for many years. He was a well know face in Murrieta, and volunteered time at the Friends of the Library. He had a quick wit and easy laugh and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen Goddard and Susan (Bill) Seale, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg) Luce, Matthew Seale, and Spencer Seale. All are welcome to join us as we honor his life. The memorial service is June 2, 2018, at 1:00 at Murrieta United Methodist Church, 24652 Adams Ave., Murrieta.
