Dawson, GA–Marie Powell McLendon, of Dawson died on May 18, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at Harvey Funeral Chapel in Dawson with interment in the Parrott Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 20th, at Harvey Funeral Chapel, from 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Marie was a life long resident of Terrell County, born on February 7, 1937 in Parrott, daughter of the late Jospeh Lawson Powell and the late Mattie Lou Barfield Powell. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Pierce Chapel Methodist Church. She was married to the late Charles Lee McLendon. She was a member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, and over her lifetime Marie enjoyed golfing, tennis, hunting, and especially fishing with her grandchildren. She was also a former member of the Mary Brantly United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Stone Castle Daughters of the American Revolution.. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Hubert Powell, Paul Powell, and Lawrence Powell, and a sister, Margaret Powell Steadham. Survivors include a son, James Nolan McLendon (Dawn) of Dawson; a brother, Louis Powell of Albany; two grandchildren, Lawson Webber McLendon of Columbus, Ohio, and Jamisen Lee Grabb (Jonathan) of Evans.
