Marie Claire Jimenes 2018

Marie Claire Jimenes, 82, of East Lyme, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018 with family by her side. She was born in Fall River, MA on December 25, 1935, to the late Rudolph and Florianna (Roy) Pelchat. She was married to Zacharias Jimenes who predeceased her. Marie had a strong Christian conviction and was a member of the former Faith Fellowship Church in New London. She enjoyed volunteering her time at church, along with being a member of the Prison Ministry where she shared her faith and reached out to young women. Marie was a quiet woman who always had love to share with her community and spent her later years inspiring others with her kindness and faith. She also loved music and spent many evenings playing her accordion for which she was proudly self-taught. Marie enjoyed being outdoors, and was an avid walker. In her younger years Marie spent her time being a homemaker and raising her two children. She was always a gracious host, and loved sharing her home with neighbors and friends. In 1992 Marie began her most cherished role of being a grandmother, she enjoyed many years of sleepovers and time spent with “her girl”. In 2015 she celebrated her first great-grandchild and was delighted to tell anyone who would listen about her “four generations of ladies”. Marie’s biggest advocate over her last years was her daughter, she spent many hours making sure Marie received the best care possible. Her son always had endless stories and humor to keep her amused. Her granddaughter became the one that was protective, roles of care reversed as time went on. Marie is survived by her brother Rudolph Pelchat of South Carolina; daughter Marie E Egerton of Waterford; son Kevin T Cook of Waterford; granddaughter Katherine C Brown and husband, Everett; great-granddaughter Emma Claire Brown; many nieces and nephews; step-granddaughter, Tanya (Anderson) Laroux; and former son-in-law Allen D Egerton. Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her sister Germaine Duquette of St Petersburg, FL. A wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; Marie’s family will miss her dearly and cherish all the wonderful memories of time spent with her. They would like to thank the special aids that cared for Marie over the last 2 years; the caring staff at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital that always showed kindness and compassion (ICU, ER and 5.4); and the Center for Hospice Care, Southeast Connecticut.
