Obituary for Mr. Domingo Mercado Mr. Domingo Mercado, 53, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Mr. Mercado, a native of Durango, Mexico, was the son of Moises and Maria Quiroz Mercado. He was the husband of Peggy Watkins Mercado, and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Mercado was a top polisher in the granite industry, having worked for New Future Granite. He was previously employed at Eagle Granite Co. for over 20 years. Mr. Mercado is survived by his wife of 21 years, Peggy Mercado; his sons, Nicolas Mercado and Craig Jordan, both of Elberton; his daughter, Yessica Mercado of Hull; and his parents, Moises and Maria Mercado. He also leaves behind two brothers, Jose Mercado and Moy Mercado; seven sisters, Mela Mercado, Rica Mercado, Cande Mercado, Cukis Mercado, Martha Mercado, Lusi Mercado, and Rosi Mercado; his mother-in-law, Mildred Watkins of Anderson, SC; and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mr. Mercado’s life was held on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Pastor Michel Bernardin and Pastor Bill Jones officiating. A time of visitation began at 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment was at Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Nicolas Mercado, Moy Mercado, Jose Mercado, Theodore Hernandez, Machael Hernandez, Fernando Sigala, Jr., Fernando Sigala, Sr., and Jason Johnson serving as pallbearers. Arrangements for Mr. Domingo Mercado were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
