Obituary of Rovina Phillips
Funeral Services for Rovina Imogene Phillips of Troy, MO, formerly of Elsberry, MO will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, retired New Hope Baptist Church pastor, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Hackmann, Christopher Hackmann, Chris Kempland, Patrick Bushman, Ryan Dugan and Leslie Keene. Serving Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Leathers, Dale Hurley, Roy Morris, Bob Gladney and Jimmy Jeans.
Mrs. Phillips, 86, passed away Friday afternoon, March 23, 2018 at SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis, MO. Born April 13, 1931 in New Madrid County, MO, she was the daughter of Fred Buck and Bertha Lee Bisher Conyers. Rovina was a 1949 graduate of East Prairie High School in East Prairie, MO. She was united in marriage on February 1, 1951 in New Madrid, MO to Ralph Phillips. This union was blessed with four children: Randy Gene, Ralph Timothy, Rhonda Delores and Deborah Gale. She worked as a machine operator for Parts Exchange and later Air Wick, where she retired after 14 years of employment. Rovina was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Rovina was preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Bertha Conyers; four brothers: Charlie Martin Conyers, Earnest Lee Conyers, Frank Eugene Conyers and Gilbert Cloys Conyers; three sisters: Molly Mae Keene, Helen Louise Jacobs and Lois Virginia Looney; two sons: Tim Phillips and Randy Phillips; one daughter, Rhonda Jones; one granddaughter, Shawnna Phillips; one son-in-law, John Richard Beauchamp; and her beloved husband of almost 51 years, Ralph Phillips, who died January 8, 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Beauchamp of Troy, MO; one granddaughter, Jessica Jones and her companion, Patrick Bushman; two step-granddaughters: Tricia Hackmann and her husband, Richard, and Angela Kempland and her husband, Chris; four great-grandchildren: Melissa Pace and her husband, John, and Christopher Hackmann and Kaylie Virginia and Jonathan Philip Kempland; and three great, great-grandchildren: Laney, Kaden and Grayson Pace. Rovina also leaves one brother, Lonnie Andrew Conyers and his wife, Judy, of Wickliffe, KY; two sisters: Faye Elizabeth Youngblood of East Prairie and Freddy Jo Colson of Carmi, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
