Mr. James H. “Jim” Pettner, Sr., 61 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in his home.
Born November 28, 1956 in Sewickley, PA, he was the son of Marilyn L. (Stanfield) Pettner, State Line, PA and the late Stephen J. “Steve” Pettner, Sr.
Jim’s family moved to the area when he was 7 years old. He graduated from Greencastle Antrim High School with the class of 1975.
He was employed as a welder for Volvo Construction Equipment in Shippensburg, PA for 31 years.
Jim was a hard worker and someone you could always depend on. He will be remembered as an awesome, caring and loving man who would do anything for his family. In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycles, an occasional car show with his son, and roller skating, a skill that he developed as a kid when he was on a speed team, and a skill that has been passed on to his kids and grandkids. He could be very spontaneous on occasion, especially if there was something he really wanted to do. He once drove to Pittsburgh to get a pizza from his favorite pizza place, Ambridge Police Station Pizza, and turned around and drove back home!
In addition to his mother, Marilyn, he is survived by two children: his daughter, Allison V. Pettner, Chambersburg, PA and a son, Ryan R. Pettner, Fairfield, PA; three grandchildren; Leyna, Noah and Kameron; his siblings: Stephen J. Pettner, Gary E. Pettner, Karen L. Pettner, Donnie P. Pettner and Randy A. Pettner and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, James H. “Jimmy” Pettner, Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home,521 S. Washington St. Greencastle, PA, with Rev. David Rawley officiating. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening in the funeral home.
