Catherine Elizabeth “Betty” (Mead) Pfund
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 22, 2018. She was 85 years old.
The daughter of the late John and Julia (Petricivic) Mead was born November 20, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married her loving husband Paul F. Pfund on June 14, 1952; he survives her. From this union four children were born.
Betty graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1951. She was proud to be on the committee for class reunions for many years. She worked various jobs but most of all cherished her time as a homemaker. Betty liked to cook, play cards, golf, and was an avid Red Wings fan. She was a longtime member of St. Stephens Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was on the funeral luncheon committee.
Besides her husband Paul she leaves her children, Virginia (Chuck) Belshaw, Barbara Putnam, David Pfund, Douglas (Kim Renso) Pfund; grandchildren, Natalie (Nick) Murray, Douglas Putnam, Stephanie Putnam; 3 great-grandchildren, Emily, Margaret, and Katherine Murray; along with her nieces, nephews, cousins and special lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Gerald Mead and son-in-law, Michael Putnam.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Dominic Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church at 1310 Malzahn. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. with a prayer service and time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will again take place at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nouvel Catholic Central High School Athletics or to Saginaw Township North Little League.
