Barbara Sue Modrusic, age 83, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home. Barbara was born on October 12, 1934 in Iberia, MO, a daughter of the late Thomas McDonald and Fern Lela (Alexander) McDonald.
Barbara was a United Army Veteran who proudly served her country. While serving in the Army, Barbara worked at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. On May 10, 1971, Barbara married Anthony “Tony” Modrusic. Tony passed away on January 3, 2008. Barbara was a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a member of Granite City Eagles Ladies Auxiliary since 1978. Barbara enjoyed going to the movies and to the Muny to see musicals. Theatre was her passion; she loved acting with the theatre group, East Bank Players. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she adored. Barbara loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving children, Terry (Dave Step) Walton of Angier, NC, Jonathon (Samantha) McMackin of St. Louis, MO and Lisa (Jeff) Huddleston of Imperial, MO; dear brothers, Carl (Carole) McDonald of Granite City, IL and Rodger McDonald of Godfrey, IL; proud grandmother to Dylan Huddleston, Rachel Huddleston, Jackson McMackin and Brittany Riegert; proud great-grandmother to Joseph Huddleston and Paisley Ross; special friend, Dave Meyer; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Granite City Eagles Lodge #1126. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
